I can’t even believe they blatantly lie about this and nobody corrects Jeffrey Toobin. The MSM is now officially a joke.
From the LA Times: “There is no such superhighway like the one he’s talking about,” said Ian Grossman, a spokesman with the Federal Highway Administration. “It doesn’t exist, in plans or anywhere else.”
Mr.Grossman better get on the phone with the Alberta Government and remind them that the “Canamex Trade Corridor,” “The North-South Trade Corridor,” and what they are calling a “NAFTA Superhighway” do not exist. Alberta claims they are trying, “To ensure Alberta’s competitiveness in the international marketplace and enhance tourism, continued investment in this high-efficiency, multi-lane corridor to access U.S. and emerging Mexican markets is essential.” Those crazy conspiratorial Albertans.
Newsweek even had to jump in on this. They call Ron Paul a conspiracy theorist then go on to explain that there is in fact a super-highway (including rail and fiber-optics) being built and owned by a foreign company that will make money from it in the form of tolls. In other words, we are selling off our current infrastructure to the highest bidder so we can go from free travel to having pay for it. They are playing word games here.
Need more proof of the word games and lies? The government of Alberta’s own website uses the term “NAFTA Superhighway.”
Just in recent months the Security and Prosperity Partnership web site has added a Myths and Facts section. Due in large part to people being upset at what their end goal is, to merge North America into a single political entity.
NASCO is looking to grease the skids of businesses and local governments to make this new corridor a reality. They wordsmith to let you know that there won’t be a new NAFTA Superhighway because existing infrastructure will be used to build it. This is actually worse because they are saying this new highway system will use I-35, so everyone who currently uses I-35 will have no other alternative but to use the new toll road system. No wonder so many people in Texas and other plains states are going nuts over these plans.
“NAFTA Superhighway” – As of late, there has been much media attention given to the “new, proposed NAFTA Superhighway”. NASCO and the cities, counties, states and provinces along our existing Interstate Highways 35/29/94 (the NASCO Corridor) have been referring to I-35 as the ‘NAFTA Superhighway’ for many years, as I-35 already carries a substantial amount of international trade with Mexico, the United States and Canada. There are no plans to build a new NAFTA Superhighway – it exists today as I-35.
